Following the success of “art from berlin”, at which Berlin galleries jointly presented works of art at the Korea International Art Fair (KIAF) in May of 2007, the Landesverband Berliner Galerien (LVBG, Galleries Association of Berlin) and Gewerbesiedlungs-Gesellschaft mbH (ORCO-GSG) have initiated the “artist in residence program Seoul-Berlin”.
The Korean artists

arrived on September 1st for their two month residency in Berlin. ORCO-GSG provides the studios and accommodations in one of their historical and light-industrial buildings in Berlin- Kreuzberg.

will be sponsoring the artists. At the end of their residency in Berlin, the artists’ work will be shown in a special exhibition. A documentation catalogue will be published. This is to take place parallel with the ART FORUM BERLIN.
The program intends to expand the artistic exchange between the metropolitan cities Seoul and Berlin, both of them located in divided nations, and to promote the cultural economy. It forms an official part of KIAF 2008 and will be continued next year in Seoul in cooperation with the Galleries Association of Korea. Next year, five Berlin artists will return the visit, staying in Seoul for a residency.

ORCO Germany S.A.
ORCO Germany S.A. is a real estate company and is registered in Luxembourg and that is listed in the Prime Standard on the Regulated Market of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
